Processions

The Holy Week Processions take place every year in Mendrisio along the streets of the old town centre on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday at 8.30 p.m.

The street lighting is switched off and the streets are illuminated by the soft light of the transparencies, the luminous paintings depicting episodes from the Gospel or the Old Testament.

On Thursdays, join in the Passion of Christ and the Via Crucis performed by some 270 participants, including knights, Roman soldiers and biblical characters.

On Fridays, don't miss the spiritual procession with over 700 participants.

Enjoy a 400-year-old tradition. You'll take home a precious memory.
