The exhibition gazebo in San Giovanni is open to the public from Saturday to Wednesday of Holy Week from about 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
It is possible to organize a guided tour by contacting the Art Museum at the number 058 688 33 50 or by calling 079 247 16 34 (mealtimes).
The preparation of the processions also involves the conservation, restoration and timely preparation of a lot of decorative material, scenery and even costumes. The volunteers who manage the coordination of the preparation of the two parades, together with the staff of the municipality, handle this material annually, check its quality and prepare it for the event of the current year. The work behind the scenes is a lot! But the passion and dedication for this Living Tradition has led the Historical Processions Foundation to realize a further project that allows, at the same time, to handle and organize the costumes of the Holy Thursday Procession and to present it to the public. A few weeks before Easter, therefore, the staff of the municipality builds in the courtyard behind the Art Museum and the Church of San Giovanni, a large Gazebo, designed and built with the aim of faithfully presenting the sequence of characters of the Procession of Holy Thursday, in which they are precisely exposed the clothes of all the characters. It is here that it is possible to see and deepen the knowledge of the characters who parade in procession, to discuss with volunteers about the reasons for the presence of some curious characters and also to talk about the packaging and storage of all the clothing. It is here that we also meet for rehearsals and that most of the characters are also found for the dressing even on the evening of the procession. The entrance for the visit is free, but in any case at the exit of can leave any voluntary contribution. For guided tours or for groups, or in case of need of visits outside the times indicated, it is necessary to make an appointment.
